Fried Haloumi Cheese Fingers

Fry or barbecue this Cyprus style cheese and serve with a Greek salad and crusty bread. This cheese can be just as easily dry fried as it can be fried in oil and is also easily cooked on the barbecue plate. Watch out-it's addictive!




Ingredients (serves:2) 

  • 1 pack (180g) haloumi cheese
  • 1/2 tablespoon olive oil (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 2 teaspoons fresh lemon juice
  • pepper if desired










Directions
Preparation:10min  ›  Cook:8min  ›  Ready in:18min 

  1. Slice cheese into 1cm thick fingers and let drain on a paper towel for 10 mins.
  2. Fry in olive oil on each side over medium heat for 1 to 2 minutes or until the cheese bubbles and turns light golden brown.
  3. Serve warm sprinkled with lemon juice, oregano and black pepper.
